what is the

GOSPEL

What is it?

Put simply, the gospel is the good news of what God has done through Jesus Christ (Titus 3:4-7).

The Bible describes mankind as being in rebellious sin against our holy God, and therefore under his judgment (Romans 3:10, 23). While mankind deserves this judgement, God extends His love through the life, death, and resurrection of His son Jesus Christ to deal with our sin and to reconcile us to himself (Romans 5:8-11).

Christ took the penalty of our sin on the cross, turning aside God’s judgment and wrath as our substitute. Our brokenness is restored, and the new life mankind finds in Christ is granted out of the grace of God (Romans 6:23). It is received by faith as we repent of our sins and trust in Jesus as our Lord and Savior (Romans 10:9-10). There is now no condemnation for those who believe, they shall be saved (Romans 8:1, 10:13).
